Engagement Specialists of Australia (NSW) Pty Ltd, trading as Dale Carnegie Australia
Effective 01/09/2026
Dale Carnegie Australia is the trading name of Engagement Specialists of Australia (NSW) Pty Ltd (ABN 53 617 069 360), Suite 10.02, Level 10, 201 Miller Street, North Sydney NSW 2060. We are an independently owned licensee of Dale Carnegie & Associates, Inc. ("DC&A") in the United States.
This policy explains how we handle personal information. We follow the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
Participants: name, email, phone, job title, employer, attendance, assessment and survey results, and feedback you give us about a program. In some programs we film presentations so participants can see their own progress.
Clients and contacts: name, role, organisation, contact details, purchase orders, invoices and our correspondence with you.
Young people and their parents or guardians: for programs with participants under 18, the parent or guardian's name and contact details, an emergency contact, and any medical conditions, allergies, medication or support needs the parent tells us about. Health information is sensitive information under the Privacy Act, so we only collect it with consent and only to keep the participant safe.
Enquiries: whatever you share when you contact us, register interest or download material.
We do not collect payment card details ourselves. Card payments are handled by our payment provider.
Mostly directly from you: when you register, accept a proposal, complete a form or assessment, or talk to us. Sometimes it comes from someone else, usually an employer booking staff onto a program, or a parent booking for a young person. If you give us details about other people, please make sure they know and are happy for you to share them.
You can deal with us anonymously or under a pseudonym when you are just making an enquiry, but we need your real name to enrol you and issue a certificate.
We use personal information to run programs: enrolling people, delivering sessions, tracking attendance, issuing certificates, invoicing, answering questions and improving what we do. Where you have agreed, or the law allows, we also use it to tell you about other programs (see Marketing below).
Our facilitators, including contract facilitators, who see what they need to deliver the program and are bound by confidentiality.
Your employer, where your employer booked you. We share attendance and completion. We only share your individual assessment results with your employer where sharing them is part of the program and we've told you beforehand, or where you've given us written consent. We don't pass on what you say in sessions.
DC&A, which can see participant records for certification and quality purposes and handles them under its own privacy notice at dalecarnegie.com/en/privacy-policy.
Service providers who help us run the business, such as our customer database (Salesforce), proposal software, email, file storage, accounting and assessment tools. They may only use the information to provide their service to us.
Anyone the law requires, or where it is needed to prevent a serious threat to someone's life, health or safety.
We don't sell personal information.
Some of our systems are hosted outside Australia. Participant records in Salesforce are shared with DC&A in the United States, and some service providers store data in the United States and other countries. Where information goes overseas, we take reasonable steps to make sure it is handled in a way that is consistent with the Australian Privacy Principles.
We only send information about other programs where you have agreed to receive it or the Spam Act 2003 otherwise allows. Every message has an unsubscribe link, or you can email us and we'll take you off the list. We don't use photos or video of participants in our marketing without their consent.
For participants under 18, a parent or guardian gives consent on their behalf. We collect only what we need to run the program safely, share medical and emergency details only with the facilitators and first aiders who need them, and delete them after the program. Marketing goes to the parent or guardian, never to the young person.
We store information in password-protected systems and limit access to the people who need it. Paper forms, such as sign-in sheets and medical notes, are kept secure during a program and shredded afterwards.
We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes above or the law requires (for example, financial records), then delete or de-identify it. If there is a data breach likely to cause someone serious harm, we will tell the people affected and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it. Email us and we'll respond within 30 days. We may need to confirm who you are first. If we can't give you access, we'll explain why.
If you think we've mishandled your personal information, email us with the details. We'll acknowledge your complaint within 5 business days and aim to resolve it within 30 days. If you're not happy with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always on our website, and the date at the top shows when it last changed.
